Learn Brain Frames online

Get more from your students than you ever thought possible.

Who’s it for?

K-12 speech-language pathologists and educators who want to be even more effective with students who are muddled up.

If you want proven tools for helping students with listening, speaking, reading, writing, critical thinking, and learning, then this is for you.

What is it?

Our unique course design introduces you to new concepts, connects you with like-minded peers to learn together, helps you see how to make the ideas work with the students you teach, and provides you with tons of feedback.

You won’t just plunk through a bunch of boring slides on your own or drown in a bunch of theory.

Vivido Learn do inspire

How does it work?

Read, watch, and learn

through four learning modules on your own

Meet weekly

online with a small group to practice and collaborate

Design a plan

for using the week’s concepts with your own students and curriculum

Get and give feedback

everyone improves

Here’s how each week is structured

The schedule below is in Eastern Time.

Live in another time zone? Read more.

Class meets each week on Mondays from 7:00 – 8:00 PM, Eastern Time.

When you register, we ask what time zone you live in. If we have a cohort of educators in any course who enroll from a different time zone, we will happily create a time-zone specific class that better accommodates your waking and working hours.

We cannot guarantee this will be possible for any given course, as we never know in advance who will enroll from where.

If you don’t want to take a chance, invite some friends from your time zone to enroll with you. We’ll set you up to work together!

Brain Frames help educators get more from their students.

Here’s what they say:

Vivido Lisa M

“It doesn’t matter what I’m teaching, Brain Frames always find a way into my lessons. Students do so much better when they can see how concepts connect. I do too!”

Vivido Dr. Joan Mele-McCarthy

“We adopted Brain Frames school-wide 15 years ago. Having an easy way to make language stand still has transformed the way our teachers teach and our students learn.”

Vivido Loretta G

“Something magical happens when students can see their ideas. They have so much more to say!”

Vivido Years of research

Years of research
and development

has shown that there are ways to help disorganized students – IF you fill in the blanks that are missing for them.

Once you know the patterns of language
in Brain Frames, you’ll start seeing them everywhere.

You can help your students:

Understand

what they hear and read

Organize

ideas in logical ways

Write

stories, paragraphs, and essays that make sense

Share

their thoughts and ideas with confidence

Imagine a classroom…

where students have tools they can use to get ideas out of their heads in an organized way and share what they know about themselves and the world around them.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Brain Frames Training

The training
What technology is required?

thinkific.com: course website for accessing content, submitting projects, and sharing ideas with classmates
Zoom: online meeting for live instruction and group practice
Slack: free app for real-time communication with our Coaching Team and collaboration with classmates

Does Dr. Bonnie Singer personally teach the course?

Yes. She created the content, will be with you through video, and will teach you each Brain Frame herself in the learning modules. She also will join you and your instructor in one of the live weekly classes.

Who are the other instructors?

Our in-house Coaching Team has extensive experience with teaching Brain Frames not only to students of all ages and ability levels, but also to other SLPs and educators.

Who are my classmates?

Your class will consist mostly of general and special education teachers as well as speech-language pathologists working with K-12 students. You may also have occupational therapists and/or school psychologists in your class. If your job is to help students do better in school, this training is for you.

How are the learning modules structured?

We believe in the power of multi-sensory instruction, so we present new concepts to you in lots of ways: written text, recorded video, and real-time modeling of how to create Brain Frames. Learning modules also include links that direct you to readings and other sources you can access online. The learning modules are asynchronous but packed with direct instruction.

How do I get the most out of the learning modules?

It’s best to work through each module with paper and pen nearby. As you watch and learn each Brain Frame, draw each one yourself. You need to physically create Brain Frames (like with your own hands) in order to get comfortable with them.

Each module leaves you with ideas for practicing on your own. Do that. It’s the only way you’ll find out where you’re confused.

Can I get graduate course credit, CEUs, or PDPs for this?

Vivido is an approved provider of Professional Development by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. We will provide a certificate of completion to everyone who successfully completes the Brain Frames course.

If you are an SLP, your certificate will reflect 1.5 certification maintenance hours and all information required by ASHA. You can use this to fulfill your certification maintenance requirements.

If you are an educator, your certificate will reflect 15 professional development hours.

The commitment
How much time can I expect to spend each week?

The learning modules provide instruction asynchronously, which will take roughly one to two hours to get through. You can split it up if you need to, and you have several days to go through the material. The first learning module is the longest, so once you get past that one, the others will go more quickly.

Class meets live for one hour each Monday, then the remaining work (a project and peer feedback) will take another couple-ish more hours.

So in all, each week will require roughly 3 to 4 hours of your time, spread out over the whole week.

Can I share the course materials with my other colleagues?

You will receive a packet of materials before the course kicks off. In that packet are guidelines that detail what you can and cannot do with material that is published and copyrighted by Vivido and its affiliated publisher, VividoWorks. Read it. In the event that you have additional questions we didn’t address there, just contact us. We’ll guide you.

Can I put Brain Frames online for my students?

Yes, but not in a location that can be accessed by the public. See the above-mentioned guidelines for, well, guidelines.

Will anyone use my work elsewhere?

If it’s awesome, we might want to show other educators and brag about how awesome you are and it is. If there are names or identifying information on your work, they will be removed.

Tuition
What types of payment do you accept?

We accept payment via Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. If a school is paying your tuition and cannot provide a credit card, we require payment by check in advance of the course enrollment deadline. Please contact us directly at [email protected] to make payment arrangements.

Can I get documentation to be reimbursed by my employer?

If your school or organization is willing to reimburse you for the tuition, save a copy of your payment receipt when you enroll. Upon successful completion of the course, we will provide you with a certificate of completion that you can submit to your school or organization along with your proof of payment.

What’s included in the tuition?

Tuition covers all aspects of the course as well as materials, which will be shipped to you roughly a week in advance.

Do you offer payment plans?

We do not offer payment plans. Payment in full is due at the time of enrollment.

What if something happens to me, and I can’t finish?

We realize that doing life means you’ll encounter unexpected emergencies and stressors. If you hit a setback part way through that prevents you from completing the course, we will defer you to a future class.

What is your refund policy?

Tuition is non-refundable. If you enroll and find that you cannot start the course due to unforeseen events, we will defer you to a class that starts at a later date.

Plus this
What happens after?

As a graduate of the Brain Frames online course, you are welcome to join our Brain Frames Alumni group, which we affectionately refer to as our BFA. Also, as an alumnus, you are eligible to further your expertise with Brain Frames by taking additional online Master Classes.

We’ll give you more information about both of these when you finish.
